Peter Hawtin’s father, William Hawtin was born in Whichford in 1919 and Peter has traced back Hawtins in Whichford to about 1800. He has four photos of children from Whichford School dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. They can be seen using this link. He wonders if there are still people in the village who might be able to recognise family members or friends. If so, it would be wonderful to put names to faces and to date the photos. The May Day photo date is smudged but looks as if it might be 1915. A male teacher appears in 3 of the photos: 2 when he was younger and 1 some years later.

Editor’s note: I am sorry about the poor quality of these photographs but people in the village may just be able to identify the bell ringers.
